How To Make Ghana Pancakes
Pancake is a delicious flat cake usually round or tin in shape. In today’s article, I’m going to show you how to make creamy Ghana pancakes in five different methods. Ghanaians love to eat pancakes, mostly without any toppings.
One of the main differences between Ghanaian pancakes and other pancakes is including nutmeg to the batter. Nutmegs do not only add to the flavor but also help in digesting, improve blood circulation, reduce insomnia, detoxify the body and help increase immune system function. Even though some of you may think making pancakes is rocket science, It’s actually very easy to make.
How To Make Creamy Ghana Pancakes
Pancakes are consumed as breakfast all around the world, they can be eaten with Ice cream, berries, chocolate chips, chocolate sauce, maple or pancake syrup, and peanut butter. I personally, I’m a huge fan of pancakes and I make them almost every day. It shouldn’t take you more than 30 minutes to make them if you already have all the required ingredients. Eating pancakes for breakfast will brighten your day. I know you are eager to begin so without further ado, let’s get started with the recipes.
Thin Creamy Ghana Pancake Recipe.
Ingredients
- 125g All-purpose flour
- 250ml of Ideal Rich & Creamy full Cream Evaporated Milk or any Fresh Full Cream milk
- 1 large Egg
- 3 1/2 tablespoon Sugar
- 2 Tablespoon Melted Margarine / Butter
- 1/2 Tablespoon of Nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla or Strawberry Flavor (Optional)
Method
In a large bowl, add 125g All-purpose flour, 1/ tablespoon of Nutmeg, a pinch of salt(Optional), Add 3 1/2 tablespoon sugar, 250ml of full cream milk, 1 large egg and mix together. Add 2 tablespoon of melted margarine/butter, 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla flavor(optional) and mix until it’s smooth.
In a frying pan, add a little cooking oil, preheat your pan, once the pan is heated, set the fire to medium heat and pour a ladle of your pancake batter into the pan to fry. tilt the pan to spread the batter to all areas of your frying pan. leave it to cook for 1 minute 80 seconds to 2 minutes then flip the pancake to the other side to cook till its brownish in color.
Take your pancake of the fan unto a plate, and top it with sliced berries and Powdered sugar.

Creamy Ghana Pancake Recipe
- 1 cup/ all-purpose white flour
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- ½ teaspoon vanilla essence
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- ½ teaspoon vanilla essence
- 1 can 325ml Ideal Rich & Creamy full Cream Evaporated Milk
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoon melted butter or margarine
- 4 tablespoons water
- Powdered sugar (optional)
Method
In a large bowl, add 1 cup All-purpose flour, 1/4 tablespoon of Nutmeg, 3 tablespoon sugar, 1 can of Ideal Rich & Creamy full Cream Evaporated Milk, 4 tablespoons of water and mix together. Add 1 large egg or 2 small eggs, 2 tablespoons of melted margarine/butter, 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla essence and mix until it’s smooth.
In a frying pan, add a little cooking oil to coat the pan, preheat your pan, once the pan is heated, set the fire to medium heat and pour a ladle full of your pancake batter into the pan to fry. tilt the pan to spread the batter to all areas of your frying pan. leave it to cook for 2 minutes then flip the pancake to the other side to cook till its brownish in color. Roll the pancake with your spatula and place it on a plate.
Top it with powdered sugar or maple syrup.

Fluffy Thick Ghana Pancake Ingredients
- 2 Cups of all-purpose (soft) flour
- 2-3 tablespoons of nutmeg
- 1 cup of pure water
- 1/2 a tin of Ideal Rich & Creamy full Cream Evaporated Milk
- 4 Tablespoons of sugar
- 2 small Eggs or 1 Large Egg
The Method
Step1. In a Bowl, Break two eggs or 1 large Egg.Whisk the eggs for 15 – 20 seconds.

Step 2. Add 1/2 a tin of Ideal Rich & Creamy full Cream Evaporated Milk to the eggs.

Step 3. Add 1 cup of pure water to the egg, milk mixture and whisk together with a whisk or fork.

Step 4. Add 1 and 1/2 Cups of all-purpose (soft) flour and mix with a fork or whisk

Step 5. Mix the flour with the milk and egg mixture until it’s smooth.

Step 6. Add 2-3 teaspoons of nutmeg to your pancake mixture and mix.

Step 7. Add 4 Tablespoons of sugar.
You can add less or more depending on your preference. I like my pancakes really sweet without adding syrup or powdered sugar.
Step 8. Preheat your fry pan, add butter or oil into the pan.
Pour a small amount of your pancake mixture into your frypan. To avoid getting your pancake burnt, cook on medium heat.

Leave it to cook till its golden brown in color then turn it to the other side and let it cook as well. Fold the pancake 3 times with your spatula and serve it on a plate.
Tip: For round shaped pancakes use butter. For flatter tin pancakes, use oil.

Fluffy Yeast Ghana Pancake Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon of Instant or Quick rising Yeast
- 2 Cups of all-purpose (soft) flour
- 2-3 teaspoon of nutmeg
- 1 cup of warm water
- 4 Tablespoons of sugar
- 1/2 a tin of Ideal Rich & Creamy full Cream Evaporated Milk
- 2 Eggs
- Salted Butter or Oil Based Pan Coating spray
Using a non-stick pan is preferred for this recipe.
Method
In a large bowl, add 1 tablespoon of Instant or Quick rising Yeast, 1 cup All-purpose flour, 1/4 tablespoon of Nutmeg, 3 tablespoon sugar, 1 can of Ideal Rich & Creamy full Cream Evaporated Milk, 4 tablespoons of water and mix together. Add 2 eggs, mix the eggs with the pancake batter, cover the bowl with a napkin and let it sit for 30 minutes.
After it has doubled in size, preheat your fry pan, add a teaspoon of salted butter or spray the pan with oil-based coating spray. Pour a ladle full of your pancake batter into the hot pan to cook. Set the stove to medium and let each side cook for 2 -3minutes.

A delicious tasty Ghana pancake recipe is as easy and simple to prepare as any other breakfast. In this article, I’m going to show you how to prepare Ghana pancakes in the simplest, quickest way.

Ghana Pancake Ingredients
- 1tsp – Nutmeg
- 1/2tsp – Salt
- 2-4tbsp – Sugar
- 1tsp – Vanilla Extract or Flavor Of Choice
- Oil For Frying
- 1/2cup – Water
- 1/2tsp – Butter Flavor (Optional)
- 1 – Egg
- 1cup – Evaporated Milk
- 1cup – All-Purpose Flour or Soft Flour
Ghana Pancake Preparation Method
In a blender, add your egg, evaporated milk, water, sugar, salt, nutmeg, vanilla extract, butter flavor (optional), and lastly your all-purpose flour. Blend till smooth, Heat up your pan, add some oil and begin frying.
Pour a ladle full of the pancake batter mix into the pan, and tilt or rotate the mixture until everything is spread out beautifully.
