Cape Coast Airpot: NPP Govt. Plans To Build Airpot In Cape Coast

Cape Coast Airport: NPP Govt. Plans To Build Airport In Cape Coast.

The New Patriotic Party(NPP) has declared its intentions to build an airport in the central region of Ghana. The Vice president of the NPP said it will make more economic sense to build an airport in Cape Coast just like the Ho Airport in the Volta Region.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia believes this shouldn’t be up for debate as Cape Coast was once the Capital of Ghana (Gold Coast)

“Tourists like convenience, I can fly into a place, I don’t have to come in and be on a three-hour journey on a bus to get to the place, so the airport will provide a lot of convenience for a lot of tourists who are coming in. It will help a lot and it will also boost other industries in and around Cape Coast as you have it.”

“So I think that the whole idea of boosting the place, you look at Accra, Kumasi, the Cape Coast-Takoradi area, that triangle, that area, has probably 60 percent of the population of Ghana,” He said.

NPP Govt. To Introduce National Rental Assistance Scheme

The New Patriotic Party plans on introducing a new National rental assistance Scheme. Ghana’s vice president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia made it known at the party’s manifesto launch that the National Rental Assistance scheme would pay the rents directly to landlords and will later be deducted at source from beneficiaries’ salaries.

He also mentioned that beneficiaries would have to have a formal employment, a regular salary and a guarantor to access the facility, He indicated it was important to address the rent challenges to relieve a lot of people of the burden.

“It is clear that there are a lot of youth who have problems just trying to rent accommodation after school because of large demands for rent allowance sometimes up to two years allowance.
