Hearts, short for Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club Limited, is a Ghanaian football team with a history dating back to 1911 and a stellar reputation across the continent and beyond.
The team is one of 16 that play in Ghana’s top division, known as the Ghana Premier League.

Since 1911, the club has provided employment for hundreds of the country’s talented young people. Many players have gone on to become major stars both at home and abroad after receiving training there, including those as young as 15 at the time. It continues to hire young people and is currently constructing a dorm to educate and prepare even more young players for the future.

The Hearts of Oak tasted its first considerable success in 1922, when the Accra Football League was established by Governor of the Gold Coast Sir Gordon Guggisberg. Hearts had six victories and eight losses in this league. Hearts has been successful ever since it was founded in 1956 and entered the Ghana Football League, which is now known as the Ghana Premier League. In 2000, Hearts of Oak swept the trophies for the Ghana FA Cup, the Ghana Premier League, and the CAF Champions League Cup.

After leading Hearts to victories in the CAF Champions League (2000), CAF Super Cup (2001), and CAF Confederations Cup (2004), Sir Cecil Jones Attuquayefio is still the club’s most lauded coach. Young men of the Ga Colonial period rallied under war captain Christopher Brandford Nettey to start the club. The Simon Okraku brothers (Adolf, Alfred, and Wilhelm), J.T.O. Ankrah, J.A. Amoo, Peter Malm, Quashie Coker, and Akom Duncan were also members of Akom Duncan, a native of Saltpond, served as the team’s first captain, and all of the other founders also played on the first team.

Bringing joy, dignity, and admiration to every Phobian is Hearts Of Oak’s top priority. The club aims to become the best football team in Ghana and all of Africa. Instilling a shared understanding of the club’s values and principles as a whole football program.
