How to make Bofrot (Puff Puff Recipe) Boflot
Ghanaian Boflot, brofot, or Puff Puff is a popular snack in Ghana. It is made with flour, yeast, sugar, and water to make a simple batter. Below is a simple puff puff/boflot recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of regular flour
- 1 teaspoon of dry active yeast
- 1 spoonful of sugar
- 12 teaspoon of salt
- Warm water, 1 cup
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions:
- Mix the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt together in a large bowl. Mix together well.
- Mix the dry ingredients with a spoon as you slowly add the warm water, until a batter forms. The consistency of the batter should be like a pancake batter.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a clean towel, and put it somewhere warm for about an hour, or until the batter has doubled in size.
- About 2 inches of vegetable oil should be heated to 350°F (175°C) in a large pot or deep fryer.
- Put 3 or 4 Puff Puffs at a time into the hot oil by dropping spoonfuls of batter into the oil with a spoon.
- Fry the Puff Puffs for about 2–3 minutes, or until they are golden brown on both sides.
- Take the Puff Puffs out of the oil with a slotted spoon and let them drain on a plate lined with paper towels.
- Keep doing this until all of the batter is finished.
Serve your tasty Puff Puffs warm and enjoy them! They taste best when eaten right away, but you can keep them in a container with no holes for up to 2 days.
