Most Expensive Areas to live in Accra: Neighborhoods and Suburbs
Ghana is a West African country that has been currently getting more publicity in recent years. Due to this more and more people have been embarking on Ghana. Most likely this new influx of individuals would likely want to know the prime real estate areas.
Some of the most expensive neighborhoods and areas in Accra Ghana are East Legon, Airport Residential, Dzorwulu, West Legon and Cantonments.
East Legon
East Legon is one of the more affluent neighborhoods in Ghana. It is home to what is considered to be the first mall in Accra, ANC Mall. There are also a lot of sports centers such as Lizzy sports complex, and high-quality international schools, like Al Rayan, and British International school.
East Legon is home to most of the celebrities and athletes and big-time business tycoons. It also has an opulent array of homes and apartments.
Airport Residential
Airport residential is one the most if not the most luxurious place to live in Accra. Located northeast of Kotoka International Airport, Sporadically populated, Airport Residential is home to many of the bourgeoisie and expatriates. It also has a high density of NGOs and government offices such as embassies.
It is rather difficult to find public transport there since most residents own their own cars. There are a lot of pedestrian areas in which fitness buffs can go for jogs.
Dzorwulu
Dzorwulu is an upper-middle-class neighborhood that is home to one of Ghana’s former presidents. Situated 6.5 kilometers from the city center, Dzorwulu is known for its security and also being the only place in Accra that has a mini-golf course. Dzorwulu has a diverse array of eateries and nightclubs.
Cantonments
Cantonments originally utilized as a military area, Cantonments has been renovated into one of Accra’s more opulent areas to live in. It has many modern type residential areas such as AU Village and Bentley Oak Town Houses (Imperial Homes Limited)
The type of residents that occupy Cantonment is mainly the bourgeois class which includes wealthy families, successful business people, government officials, and prominent scholars.
West Legon, Accra
About 14 kilometers north of the city center and 4 kilometers west of the University of Ghana is a fast developing residential region known as West Legon, often known as Westlands.
Osu
Osu is one of the most expensive places and major neighborhood in Accra, Ghana. This area can be located approximately 3 km east of the central business district. The locals refer to this area as Accra’s “West End.” This neighborhood is filled with restaurants, bars, shops and nightclubs.
Labone
To the south, Labadi Road defines the neighborhood of Labone in Accra, Ghana.
The western border of the neighborhood is formed by Cantonments Road, while the eastern border is formed by Labadi Crescent. The southern part of Osu is separated from Labone by the Ring road. Labone is one of the most expensive places to live in Accra.
North Legon
Towards the north of Accra, Ghana’s capital, you’ll find North Legon in the Greater Accra Region. This place is one of the most expensive neighborhoods to live in Accra.
Roman Ridge
The Accra neighborhood of Roman Ridge is one of the city’s planned communities. A neighborhood in northern Accra, bounded by Airport Residential Area, Dzorwulu, New Town, and Pig Farm. This place is one of the most expensive neighborhoods to live in Accra.
Abelempke
Abelenkpe is one of the most expensive areas to live in Accra. It is a community in the Accra Metropolitan District, which is part of Ghana’s Greater Accra Region. This place is bounded by Dzorwulu, achimota and pig farm.
