Ghanaian Born Abena Akuaba Appiah Makes History as the First Black Miss Grand International Winner

Ghanaian-born American model, Abena Akuaba Appiah makes the United States and Ghanaians proud by being the first Black American to represent the United States and win Miss Grand International.

Evelyn Abena Akuaba Appiah has been crowned Miss Grand International 2020 in Thailand. Abena, 27, who hails from Ghanaian descent, is a model, singer, and philanthropist. Abena is not new to the world of pageantry. She participated in Miss Talent Ghana in 2012 and Top Model Ghana in 2013.

In 2019, she represented Ghana at Miss Earth, which was held in the Philippines. In 2014 she also represented the African nation in Miss Universe which, took place in the USA.
