Credit Cards In Ghana For Shopping Online Worldwide
With the increasing number of shopping apps and sites in Ghana, Many people each day are adopting the habit of shopping online. Apart from shopping and purchasing goods from within the country, we as Ghanaians also like to shop a lot from foreign websites like amazon, Aliexpress, BooHoo, fashion nova, and other top online shopping sites.
To shop online you will need a Mastercard, Visa card, or any type of e-wallet card to enable you to purchase goods and services on the internet. Ghana has a huge number of banks to choose from and they all offer these types of cards to their customers. But when it comes to selecting the right bank card for online shopping, Things get a little tricky.
Apart from the fact that some bank cards issued from Ghana do not work at all on foreign sites, like Facebook, Amazon, eBay, Boohoo, Fashionova..etc others have extremely high rates when shopping on foreign sites.

I’m going straight to the point to list the recommended Ghana Bank cards for shopping online on any intentional website.
1. Stanbic Multi Currency Card
The Stanbic Bank Multi currency card allows you to Load up to five currencies onto one card (USD, EUR, GBP, ZAR and GHS). It has a transaction fee of 0% for online purchases. This card is usable anywhere MasterCard is accepted in Ghana or abroad and its issued to you within 24hours at any Stanbic branch in Ghana.
2. Ecobank Card
Ecobanks visa or MasterCard works great on almost any site. You can use your Ecobank card to shop both in online stores in Africa and outside of Africa. Ecobank is also available in over 50 countries worldwide. Ecobank has low transaction rates when shopping online compared to other banks. I haven’t tried their phone customer support so I can’t really speak on that but overall I recommend them for shopping online worldwide.
3. Stanbic Bank Ghana Card
Stanbic bank is one of the best banks in Ghana If not the best. This bank has a variety of cards to choose from. The visa, MasterCard, debit, money e-wallet and other types of cards.
Most of their cards work well on international websites/stores. You can purchase online goods and services from the comfort of your home using the Stanbic debit card.
They have great customer support, in case you are purchasing an item online and you encounter difficulties, You can call any of their support numbers that pop up on the checkout page and they will see to your issue in less than 20 minutes.
I highly recommend using Stanbic Bank Cards for purchasing goods online worldwide.
4. Ghana Commercial Bank Card
Ghana commercial bank also known as GCB is Ghana’s largest Bank according to Wikipedia. The bank has over 50 branches in Ghana. This bank issues cards to its customers who opt-in for it.
I can’t speak on the online customer support for this bank because I haven’t tried them yet. But in terms of shopping online for goods and services with their MasterCard, It’s not that bad. I’ll give them a 3 star out of 5. According to my experience, they have a higher transaction rate which isn’t pleasing the cardholder. Especially if you are a heavy shopper.
Note: All the 3 banks mentioned in this post have various cards to choose from, each card has its main purpose and benefits. It’s always advisable to walk into the bank or call them to inform them about the purpose of getting the card and where you intend to buy goods and services from. They always have experts waiting to assist you in choosing the right card to meet your online shopping needs.

Ecobank can’t be the first. Have tried their visa card to shopseveral times and it neva works. They deduct and hold your money for abt 2 weeks and put it back into your account without releasing it to your supplier. They also charge 3% of your transaction cost.
